The mission of the National Extension Tourism network (NET) is to integrate research, education and outreach within Cooperative Extension and Sea Grant to support sustainable tourism, thus contributing to the long-term economic development, environmental stewardship, and socio-cultural wellbeing of communities and regions. This publication documents the 2021 Conference Proceedings (theme: Navigating the Uncharted). It includes an overview of the U.S. recreation economy, COVID-19; results of a national agritourism survey; and case studies.

​These workshops and intended for experienced licensed guides and those interested in becoming guides. Speakers will address topics related to tourism trends, marketing methods and new opportunities, and training specific to guides. Workshop will also include discussion of current challenges and opportunities and hear you desired future workshop/webinar topics.

Why Guides Registry Opens this Winter Travel Oregon’s Why Guides program, focused on the recognition and promotion of guided tour companies, will reopen program registration on November 1. Similar to last year’s programming, Why Guides will look to register more tour operators, guides and outfitters to receive priority marketing and promotion through advertisements, editorial content, news segments, tradeshows and more. Registered Why Guides will also have the opportunity to apply for Travel Oregon’s Digital Marketing Boost Program for the 22-23 season. 

Also OSU Sea Grant Extension will be hosting guide business and training workshops Nov 8th in Gold Beach and Nov 9th in Newport. More information to be published
